Last month I decided to depart from my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, after only being 1 year into the lease. Not only did I get out without being penalized, but I also pulled a good amount of equity out of it. I guess I set myself up well for that one! BTW, I highly recommend the Jeep, we just needed a bit more room.
I shop for cars just like everyone else, drive from dealer to dealer, test drive them all to see what I like. Standard procedure to hand over your license, they make a copy and you’re out for a ride. Turns out the salesmen I spoke with had also worked with one of my customers who was armed with my Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Dealer Report®. He asked me if I was “the” Inside Car Buyer. I said yes, but it’s Inside Car Buying! His manager told me they wouldn’t let me have a test drive because they don’t sell cars under invoice.
They didn’t want to waste their time with a test-drive since I would want something for nothing. They added another few “kind words” about my business model and how they are entitled to make money. Of course every business is entitled to make money! I’m 100% sure if they’re selling 100 cars a month at least 85 of the people are getting clobbered over the head. I’m just making sure 15 of them club the dealer back – LOL!
After hearing him rant about my business model and him “speaking for other dealers who have heard of me” it leads me to think I should invest in some good security. Anyone know of some bodyguards for hire?!?!?
BTW, I ended up leasing a 2013 Acadia Denali and I love it. Anyone looking for a 7-passenger with bucket seats in the second row, nice features, stylish, smooth ride and space I think it’s the best bang for the buck.
